Obituary for Dorothy Hansen

Dorothy Hansen age 89 of Sheridan passed away Wednesday September 4, 2019 at  her home under the loving care of her family and Spectrum Health Hospice. She was born July 15, 1930 in Crystal MI the daughter of Clifford and Etta (Terwilliger) Geselman. She attended school at the old country schools in Carson City- Crystal area and married Leon T. Hansen on September 18, 1948 and they raised 3 children.   She was a member of Mud Lake Community Church and attended the Edmore First Church of God. Together they enjoyed many years camping in the Vanderbilt area and trout fishing in the Black River. They loved visiting friends and family around the bonfires and just telling the old stories. They met lots of people during these years and some were friends their whole life. Dorothy worked through the years at Ore-Ida in Greenville and babysitting for children in the Sheridan area. She was a homemaker, cooking for many family and friends and canning her own vegetables, gardening, mushrooming and fishing with her husband.She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Leon, son Clifford, 9 sisters and brothers; Doris Stockton, Arnold Geselman, Bernice Lortz, George Geselman, Lucy White, Jim Geselman, Virgilene Geselman, Mary Griswold and Donna Vining.She is survived by her daughters, Charlene Smith of Big Rapids and Carol June (Brad) Belleville of Sheridan; grandchildren, Angela Baird of Seattle, Jason Sinclair of Seattle, Autumn (Scott) Cole of Lakeview, and Andrew (Kara) Hansen of Sheridan; great grandchildren, Dan, Allison, Trenton, Hunter, Kaitlyn and a great great grandchild arriving in November, many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.Funeral services will be held at Hurst Funeral Home Greenville on Saturday September 7 at 12 O’ Clock PM with Pastor Ken Harger officiating with burial to follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Sheridan. A visitation will begin at 11 AM prior to the services. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
