Obituary for Mary Susan Neil
Mary Susan Neil, age 93 of Stanton, died Monday, August 26, 2019 at Laurels of Kent in Lowell. She was born September 18, 1925 in Union City, Ohio, the daughter of Charles and Cora (Livingston) Hummel. On December 24, 1945, she married Jack Neil. Mary worked for the Body Company in Union City before she and Jack moved to Stanton, where she used her cosmetology school education to serve as a beautician. She styled hair out of her home for many years, and later worked at Ore-Ida. She enjoyed gardening and sewing, and loved volunteering at SpringHill Camps, even traveling to Spain at the age of 81 for a mission trip. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star (Stanton Lodge). Mary enjoyed wintering in Port Charlotte, Florida. She loved the Lord with all her heart, worshipping and volunteering at three churches, and loved her church family at Trinity Church in Stanton. She is survived by her daughters, Shirley Hansen of Stanton, Jane (Dick) Hill of Evart, Pam (Phil) Neumann of Stanton, Terry (Glenn) Rogers of Ada, and Jackie Neil (Chuck Landis) of Portage; 11 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law Nancy (Bill) Rees. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm Saturday, August 31, 2019 at Trinity Church (415 N. Mill St., Stanton, MI 48888), with visitation at church from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm Saturday prior to the funeral service. Pastor Mark Edwards will serve as officiant. A luncheon will immediately follow the service, and interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Trinity Church, SpringHill Camps, Alzheimer’s Association, or Kindred Hospice.
