Obituary for Irene Mae Blanding

Irene Mae Blanding, age 93 of Greenville, died Sunday, August 25, 2019 at Hathaway Hills Assisted Living.  She was born February 11, 1926 in Montreal, Wisconsin, the daughter of John and Lilly (Arseneau) Roberts.  She grew up in Wisconsin, and the family later moved to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.  On August 23, 1970, Irene married Ronald C. Blanding.  Ron and Irene enjoyed a very interesting and varied life together.  They traveled boating for a time, traveling from Florida to the Great Lakes and back.  They enjoyed touring the country for several years as antique car enthusiasts.  Her husband of 49 years, Ron survives, as does her daughter, Susan McCullough; granddaughter, Tracy Barrett; great-grandchildren, Trenton Nelson, Lilly Ann Watkins, and Cole Watkins; Ron’s children, Michael (Judy) Blanding, Chris (Terry) Blanding, and Becky (Mike) Whitt; and other relatives and friends.  Her only sibling, brother Bartley Roberts, died in World War II fighting in the Battle of the Bulge.  Private graveside services will be held at Forest Home Cemetery, Greenville.  Memorial contributions in her honor may be given to the Greenville Lions Club or Interim Hospice.
